March 3rd is "I Want You To Be Happy" Day!
Ok, everyone, today we continue with our national fun holidays courtesy of timeanddate.com. Today may be one of our favorite fun holidays as it is not a day about us, rather it is a day about putting a smile on someone else's face and making them happy.
We at Lovespoon Candlesabsolutely love this day. It reminds us of Christmasmorning. I don't know about you, but I typically get more joy out of watching a loved one open the gifts I purchased for them than opening my own gifts.
Why is this?
Well, I believe in our very nature, we are loving people, that in our core, we really love seeing and making others happy and putting a smile on their face.
It is really a remarkable thing, when you can do a little gesture and make another happy, you ultimately are equally as happy sharing in this fun and joyful moment. So today in our fun holidays series, the challenge is to go out of your way for a loved one, friend, peer and do something small that will put a smile on their face.
Perhaps you buy them a cup of coffee, or a smoothie, or simply send an email to your boss recognizing a peer for a job well done.
Trust us, if you do this, you will make two people happy, the recipient and yourself!
Even though happiness is a universal emotion, it can mean different things to different people. In today's busy world, it is easy to forget this and take on a more self-centric view of happiness.
I Want You to be Happy Day inspires people to set aside their definition of happiness and to find out what makes their loved ones happy and do those things for them. Or, your co-workers, peers, teammates.
Find out what makes them happy and try to provide it. It doesn't have to be expensive. Often times, the little gestures have the largest meanings.
Go on, stretch yourself and make it a priority today to make someone smile and be happy and we pretty much guarantee you will be just as happy seeing your friend, loved one or peer being recognized or simply being grateful for a small gesture you paid them. There's a reciprocal effect that takes place, which is actually pretty remarkable!
The day is also known as National I Want You to be Happy Day in the United States.
…that many believe that the phrase "happy as a clam" originates from the fact that open clams give an impression of a smiling clam? Other sources, however, suggest that the fuller version of the phrase - happy as a clam at high water - explains why a clam may be happy.
At high water, clams tend to have no predators including humans. Now, I am willing to bet after read about the "happy as a clam" origination, a smile came to your face! Looks like our job at Lovespoon Candles, is done, as we are willing to bet, we just made you happy today during this installment of our fun holidays series.
