Year after year, March 8, is celebrated as the International Women’s Day all over the world as the official holiday to recognize international women globally in our pursuit of an equal future.
So, Happy International Women's Day to All The STRONG Women! You can see all the posts all over our national and international social media, it is so great to see Women being recognized for all we are capable of. The support of men and international women alike on social media has been so refreshing as we continue to move toward an equal future, ultimately, gender equality.
Our day of support for international women celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women from all walks of life, while highlighting the day-to-day problems they face in the professional environment due to sometimes a lack of gender equality. Yet, in our pursuit of an equal future, we believe men and women of all races are equals. No matter what gender you are, everyone, with the right mindset and skill, can be, do and have anything and everything in life they want.
Every year, this day is celebrated with a theme. The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Choose To Challenge”. A challenged world is an alert world. And from challenge comes change. This year’s theme is to highlight the challenges to the status quo. Women are just as capable as Men in doing a great job in the professional environment. Look at all the female entrepreneurs that have made a name for themselves from a national and international standpoint.
Take for example, Whitney Wolfe Herd who is an American entrepreneur. She is the founder and CEO of Bumble, a social and dating app, launched in 2014. She was also an early executive at Tinder. In 2021, Herd recently became the world's youngest female self-made billionaire after taking Bumble public.
Or,Sara Treleaven Blakely who is an American businesswoman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She is the founder of Spanx, an American intimate apparel company with pants and leggings, founded in Atlanta. In 2012, Blakely was named in Time Magazine'sannual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. She was listed as the 93rd most powerful woman in the world by Forbes.
So as you can clearly see, national and international women with a great idea, backed with passion and dedication, can achieve anything. The sky is the limit for us. You Must Believe in yourself!
The history of International Women’s Day can be traced back to February 28, 1909. The Socialist Party of America had designated March 8, 1909 in the honour of the garment workers’ strike in New York.
However, the term ‘International Women’s Day’ was coined much later. The first official worldwide celebrations of the day happened in 1911, when women from several European countries participated in social demonstrations.
Additionally, as to the world’s surprise millions of women took to the streets to demand the right to vote, and the right to hold public offices. The protest then manifested into multilayered issues, women started to protest employment gender discrimination and demanded equal pay.
Another significant reason for celebrating International Women’s day on March 8 is that on this very day, women textile workers in St Petersburg took over the streets for protest and this act was the ignition force of the Russian Revolution.
The United Nations finally recognised the day and started celebrating it from 1967 onwards.

When, or if you ask yourself, can I do this? Am I fully capable?
We at Lovespoon Candles, challenge all national and international women to be a fearless female warrior! Say to yourself with passion and enthusiasm a resounding "YES I CAN!" Again, let me say it again, women can be, do and have anything in life they want. We must simply have the courage to face any and all obstacles. I once heard an acrostic that I like to share with many and that was from the late Zig Ziglar. The acrostic is FEAR.
At the end of the day, our own mind can prevent us from greatness. As you can see, "FEAR" is "False Evidence Appearing Real."
Look Fear in its Face, and move onward and upward as we Celebrate International Women's Day Today and ALL Days, as we move forward.....
Get on social media, and cheer on your fellow female friends, and let them know they can accomplish anything they want in life. Be their biggest fans!
We at Lovespoon Candles, continue to see more and more female business owners starting their very own business as well, and from our perspective this is terrific.
In closing, be grateful for the time we are living in, and just know today and our futures our bright.
