Your Bag is Empty

October 15, 2021 3 min read

Premium candles often come in premium packaging. If you’re the type of person to go through candles fast, then you might be sitting at home with several empty jars. There’s also a possibility that you might have thrown them out. On your next bulk buy, try to reconsider before you throw anything out. When you pay a pretty price for premium candles, you should do your best to make the most out of them.

The jars that these candles come in are often pretty enough to repurpose. You can use them for display, supply holders, and more. It’s also highly recommended that you save the leftover wax. You can still use those to create small scented wax tablets or remake them into a mini scented candle.

There are still so many things you can do with a premium candle long after you’ve burned out the wicks. But before you can get creative and enjoy the various benefits of repurposing old jars, you first have to clean them well.

Here are a few techniques you can use to get the wax out and prepare the jar for its second life.

Use Hot Water

Using heat is an easy and effective way to clean out your old candle jar. There are several ways you can use hot water to get rid of the wax inside. One method you can use is by pouring hot water into the container itself.

Remember to place the spent candle on a protective surface like a dish towel, potholder, or something else. Leave an inch or two at the top of the jar. This space should be enough to allow the melted wax to float to the top of the jar.

Once all the wax is gone, you can pour the water out. Make sure that the wax remnants don’t make it to the drain. That’s a surefire way to clog your sink.

Another way to use hot water is by creating a double boiler. For this, you have to put the candle jar in a bigger container and pour hot water in the container around the candle. The water can soften the wax, and when it’s completely melted, you just have to pour it out.

Put It in the Freezer

Another easy and simple way to remove the wax inside the jar is by using the power of the cold. It might not be the first thing that comes to mind, but freezing works excellent for wax removal. It shrinks the wax, and it’s as easy as tapping the old wax out of the jar after some time.

You can start by placing the candle jar in the freezer overnight. By the time you wake up in the morning, it will probably be ready. All you have to do is take it out of the freezer and flip it upside down. The wax may just pop right out.

However, you can always use a spoon or a butter knife to loosen the wax if it doesn’t. After that, you just have to lift, then remove it.

Summary

Repurposing old jars is more than just an excellent way to make the most of your money spent on premium candles. It’s also a great excuse to get creative and make unique knick-knacks and holders for your space. Before all that, you have to make sure the jars are nice and clean. There are plenty of ways you can do this. Any of these tips can help ensure that your jars are ready to use for a new purpose.
